Barack Obama yesterday met
victims of Superstorm Sandy in New Jersey - skipping campaign events in
battleground US regions in favour of visiting a state he is confident of
winning - as it was revealed the Superstorm Sandy has
claimed lives of at least 55 people and total damage caused is
expected to eventually hit $50billion (£31billion).
The President's visit
today - just six days before the election is due next Tuesday - has forced his
Republican challenger Mitt Romney to walk a careful line, with him having to
show respect for the storm’s casualties along the East Coast, even though he
can't afford to waste a minute of campaign time.
